MEMBERSHIP IN THE SANGAMON COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY

The Sangamon County Historical Society is one of the largest of its ilk in the state of Illinois. It draws membership mainly from Sangamon County in Central Illinois, but also includes individuals from across the United States who have ties to this area or who are interested in Illinois history.

Our fiscal year runs from June 1 to May 31. All membership levels in the Society (Regular at $30), Pioneer ($100), Settler ($250), Trailblazer ($500), and Life (a one-time fee of $700), cover related individuals 16 and over living in the same household. Student membership ($20) is for high school or college age students living away from home inasmuch as it provides them with mailed copies of our monthly newsletter (Historico), and access to member-only events on their return to their communities. 

JOINING or RENEWING ON LINE: You can join the Society one of two ways, the easiest being to sign up online by going to our

BY MAIL: You can download the Membership Information form here, print it and mail it with your check to SCHS, Box 9744, Springfield, IL 62791-9744

IN PERSON: Membership forms are available at all Society programs and meetings. Fill out the form and attach it to your check that should be made payable to the Sangamon County Historical Society. Cash can also be accepted.


SECURING MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION: The Society does not store its membership records on line nor does it share or sell its mailing list. All information is considered confidential and access is strictly limited.

GIVING A GIFT OF MEMBERSHIP: Membership in the Society makes an excellent birthday, graduation, or holiday gift for students, family members, neighbors and friends with an interest in local history.
